2. Discuss vocabulary (10 min) (activity page 3.1)
3. Primary focus for reading today (slide 8) focusing on ideas and accomplishments
-more vocabulary
4. Read chapter 3 (20 min)-kids can read with partners (you read with small groups needing help)
-fill out activity page 3.2 question #1 while you read
5. Answer question #2 on activity page 3.2 as a group, modeling how to find examples in the chapter (10 min)
6. Have them find information to answer question #3 on 3.2 in their small groups (table groups) (5 min)
7. Word work: refinement (5 min class discussion)
8. Writing (30 min) hand out Informational Paragraph Plan (graphic organizer below)
-discuss writing prompt/question on slide 27 in their table groups
-discuss possible topic sentences and share
-list/share supporting evidence for topic sentence
-explain why this is evidence
-find precise vocabulary to support
