Famous leaders often set out to improve their world through great acts of service, rousing speeches and even personal sacrifice. While we aren't all giants, we can always do our part to make our communities better. Today, be a friend to a lonely student, volunteer to help in your classroom or pick up trash that missed the garbage. Positive change doesn't always come easily, but when you live with character, you lead by example. And when you lead by example, others are more likely to follow suit.

The world has a lot of expectations for us — how we should dress, what we should accomplish, what we should own, how many friends or likes or follows we should have. But if your goal is to be a positive leader, a force for good in your school and in your community, then be exactly that today. Instead of joining the crowd in showing others where they fall short, tell the people around you how they measure up. Highlight their skills, talents and what makes them unique. Remind them that they are enough, and remember — so are you.
Today, think of a positive leader you admire. This person can be a family member, a teacher, a counselor or even a trusted friend. Identify this person, then let them know what they mean to you. Tell them how they've inspired you and how you've learned from the way they live their life. In doing so, you can become a positive force in their life, too. Send a note, call them, or tell them to their face. YOUR GOAL is to LET THEM KNOW!
