No, this is not what Mr. Maltsberger calls me. :) It is the conference I have the privilege of attending this week. Mrs. Vandenberg and I will be gaining as much knowledge as we can at the end of the week and be sharing with you how we plan to implement it into our classrooms. Here's what I do so far in my class to help kids that "need more."
When kids finish their work, they have the opportunity to take their learning a step further. If they complete 3 in a row, they can throw out their lowest grade in class! The categories I have here (which change periodically) are:
Sign Language - spellingcity.com has your spelling words as they look finger spelled.
Review a book - tell your friends why they should read the great book you have read!
Technology - sumdog is a favorite math app / website in our classroom
Plan your dream vacation - find out everything you need to go on your dream vacation
Write a story - be creative or come up with a sequel to your favorite
Interest - research a topic you're interested in, show what you learned in a visual way
Super Sleuth - use the reading series super sleuth activities
New Olympic Sport - come up with a new sport for the Olympics!
